20^th Annual Blacks’ Annual Gala

One of South Florida’s most prestigious, star-studded charity events will return for its 20th year as Lea and Roy Black and The Mariano Foundation present “The Blacks’ Annual Gala” on Saturday, October 25, from 7:00 p.m. to midnight at Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The Miami Children’s Health Foundation Annual Diamond Ball

On Saturday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m., Miami Children’s Health Foundation will host its annual Diamond Ball and will honor internationally renowned pop artist Romero Britto. Romero Britto will be inducted into the Ambassador David M. Walters International Pediatric Hall of Fame and will reveal a new logo for Together for the Children, the campaign for Miami Children’s Hospital. This premier signature event will take place at JW Marriott Marquis in Downtown Miami and will pay tribute to Miami Children’s Hospital’s grateful patients, world-class physicians and generous philanthropists. The Diamond ball also helps raise funds to position Miami Children’s as a world leader and global destination for pediatric health and wellness as well as a provider of hope for children everywhere.

YoungArts Launches Outside the Box

On October 25, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., the National YoungArts Foundation(YoungArts) will launch Outside the Box, a new series that will feature free performances by YoungArts alumni, including GRAMMY Award-nominated musician Dave Eggar (1987 Winner in Music and U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts). Each event in this multi-sensory extravaganza will take place on the YoungArts Plaza, located outside of the Jewel Box on the organization’s Miami campus, and feature different YoungArts alumni. Outside the Box attendees will enjoy tasty treats from favorite neighborhood food and beverage locales, including JugoFresh, Lulu’s and Illegal Bakery, and learn some beneficial yoga moves by Trio Yoga. Better Days Pop Up Bar Celebrates 30 More Days

Better Days, the independent boutique bar brand launched in August 2014 as the single vision of its creators, Challo Schott and owner Jeronimo Hirschfeld will extend its stay for another 30 days.  Due to the overwhelming response from Miami, Better Days has been able to extend the pop up and will be celebrating with a week of exciting events starting Halloween Weekend. On Monday October 27, Manic Monday 80s night will feature $3 tall boys, followed by “Dead Waiter” night on Tuesday October 28 where Miami’s well deserving service industry members are celebrated and thanked with a 50% discount on all their libations. On Wednesday October 29, Better Days will supply guests with pumpkins and all materials needed for a fun night of pumpkin carving. March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction presented by Goya

One of the area’s most popular annual food and wine charity events, the March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction presented by Goya, will return for its 17th year on Thursday, October 30. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Miami. A who’s who of prominent area chefs will prepare their signature dishes created exclusively for the evening, paired with fine wines resulting in a memorable, mouth-watering extravaganza. Following the tasting, there will be a seated dessert and a spirited live auction featuring unique once-in-a-lifetime opportunities and our very special Fund the Mission. The Setai Miami Beach is spooking it up for this month’s After Sunset @The Setai on Thursday, October 30 from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. Miami’s most imaginative bartender, Philip Khandehrish, is teaming up with Meat Market’s renowned mixologist Ezra Pattek. Dine de Têtes Surrealiste at Bâoli Miami

Sources say that Salvador Dalí is expected to return on October 29 to recreate his infamous “Dine de Têtes Surrealiste” party. Assembled by Dr. Albert C. Barnes between 1912 and 1951, the Barnes collection is renowned as one of the finest holdings of Post-Impressionist and early Modern paintings in the world. The collection also includes important examples of African sculpture, early twentieth-century American painting, Pennsylvania German decorative arts, Native American ceramics, old master paintings, as well as metalwork, jewelry, textiles, and antiquities.

Among its major holdings are: 181 works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir (the largest single group of the artist’s paintings); 69 works by Paul Cézanne; important paintings by Vincent Van Gogh and Georges Seurat; 59 works by Henri Matisse; 46 works by Pablo Picasso; 16 works by Amedeo Modigliani; 125 African sculptures, masks and tools.

Not To Be Missed: William Glackens
November 8, 2014–February 2, 2015

A Philadelphia native, Glackens (1870–1938) studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. There, and as an artist for the Philadelphia Press, he became friends with Robert Henri, George Luks, Everett Shinn, and John Sloan, the core of the group that later formed “The Eight” in reaction to the National Academy of Design’s hidebound exhibition policies. The group exhibited together only once, in 1908, creating the opening wedge in the struggle to democratize the process by which artists could show and sell their work. Read the rest here »

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® 

On Saturday, October 18, from 6:00 a.m. to 11 a.m., The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® will celebrate its 19th anniversary in Miami. Each year, the local Affiliate invites supporters, survivors and those in need to join them in a day of celebration. Last year, the event welcomed 16,000 in attendance and raised $1.325 million. NINE and Peace Love World Team Up For Breast Cancer

NINE at Mary Brickell Village and Brickell Magazine have teamed up to host a poolside BBQ in support of the fight against women’s cancers on October 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Guests will meet at Grand Bay Beach Club, NINE’s private beach on Key Biscayne, for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and more. Ortanique on the Mile: Cooking with Chef Cindy Hutson

Ortanique on the Mile will be hosting its month cooking class on Saturday, October 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to learn the secrets behind Chef Cindy Hutson’ Cuisine of the Sun. Participants will get a chance to play chef as they learn how to prepare Cindy’s signature dishes: Loaded Baked Potato Bisque with Vande Rose Farms Bacon Lardoons and Cabot Clothbound Cheddar in Russet Cups; Cumin-and Coriander-Dusted Mahi-Mahi with Eggplant and Vine Ripe Tomato Sauté Slivered Garlic and Sambal Pepper Sauce; and Drunken Banana Fritters with Cinnamon Ice Cream. The EDGE Charitable Foundation Celebrates “A Night in Casablanca”

The Early Development of Global Education (EDGE) Charitable Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, invites the South Florida community to their second annual Casino Night. Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour along with media partner Miami Magazine have partnered together for the charity shopping event of the season, Key To The Cure, benefiting Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center beginning on October 16 through October 19.
