Casting Call for Sailor Jerry Rum Tattooed Beauties

Calling all tattooed beauties! Sailor Jerry Rum is searching for a gorgeous, tattooed woman to be featured in the November 2012 edition of Inked Magazine. Casting call parties will be held in South Florida throughout the month of August. Join Sailor Jerry Rum for the Miami festivities on Thursday, August 9, at the Sandbar Grill in Coconut Grove from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Viable candidates must be at least 25 years of age and have some beautiful body art and smile to match. The winner will receive a $1,000 cash prize and have her displayed in the magazine’s November 2012 issue. Future casting call dates include: Key West (8/11), Jacksonville (8/17), Daytona (8/18), Tallahassee (8/23) , and  Pensacola (8/24).

 

 

 

 

Zadok Gallery in Wynwood benefits the CCCC

On Thursday, August 9, enjoy a night of art, wine and music for the Children’s Cancer Caring Center (CCCC) hosted by the Zadok Gallery in Wynwood, a beautiful venue with a variety of inspirational art. Take a tour and mingle while enjoying complimentary wine, cocktails and light bites! Extensive raffle and silent auction will be available. Cafe Prima Pasta will Make You Green with Envy

In the midst of the lazy days of summer, our favorite Italian restaurant, Café Prima Pasta is “vegging out”, literally, with the launch of a new weekly vegetarian dinner party series called “Green With Envy” every Tuesday. Falling between Meatless Mondays and Tofu Thursdays, Tuesday’s rotating tasting menu of pristine produce and savory homemade pastas showcases vegetable-centric cooking at its best.

 Guests will enjoy featured appetizers ranging from Vegetarian Spring Rolls, arugula, radicchio, black olives and capers splashed with fresh lemon juice and sprinkled with parmesan cheese, hand rolled into thin slices of zucchini, served with a truffle oil and balsamic reduction and oven roasted potatoes; Caprese Salad, homemade Mozzarella di Bufala served with vine ripened tomatoes; Zucchini Fritti, julienne slices of fresh zucchini lightly fried in extra virgin olive oil and seasoned with zesty lemon and coarse sea salt and Gise Salad, arugula, Mozzarella di Bufala, sundried tomatoes and artichoke hearts tossed in an  Italian Vinaigrette dressing .

 Second course tastings include Fiocchi alla Pera, (one of THE best dishes we’ve tried to date!) made-to-order, pasta purses stuffed with fontina cheese and tart Asian pear in a light truffle sauce; Fettuccini Mama, gluten-free pasta served with tender baby spinach, cherry and sundried tomatoes, pine nuts, garlic and pesto;Spinach Agnolotti,  perfectly puffed pasta pockets stuffed with tender baby spinach and ricotta cheese in a rich pomodoro sauce; Eggplant Rollatini, sliced eggplant stuffed with ricotta, homemade marinara sauce and artisanal cheeses served with a mixed green salad; Garden Risotto, couscous risotto served with hearty porcini mushrooms and Mascarpone cheese; and Grillata, grilled asparagus, tomatoes, eggplant, squash and zucchini sprinkled with herbs and spices and freshly grated parmesan cheese, and Spaghetti Squash, shredded squash tossed with pomodoro tomatoes, fresh garlic and onions, tender basil and extra virgin olive oil served in the squash shell and sprinkled with Parmigano Reggiano.

 The “Green with Envy” Tuesday tasting menu will rotate weekly and include a complimentary peach puree Bellini for the ladies, signature cocktail made with fresh squeezed juice or glass of wine for $38.95.

  

Free Sundays at Fairchild  

During the month of August, guests can enjoy free admission to Fairchild Gardens every Sunday. Each Free Sunday in August will present wonderful additions to the Fairchild experience including a plants sales area, a free yoga class, a featured food truck and walking tours throughout the day. As always, guests can enjoy Fairchild’s tropical rainforest, view world class art, dine at an award winning café and hop on the tram for a narrated tour that includes the history of Fairchild as well as explanations of its glorious plant collections.

 

 

The Donkey Show Extended! 

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County is thrilled to announce that, due to popular demand and glowing reviews, the run of the international phenomenon, The Donkey Show, has been extended. The show turned pop-up nightclub relives the decadent days of Studio 54 with roller skaters, go-go dancers and disco music. The Donkey Show will now run through August 18 at the Arsht Center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House. In addition to the extended dates, and will feature a new schedule and new theme nights during the weekends of August 10 and August 17 to further entice disco lovers including: Girls Night Out, Funky Fridays, Boogie Nights with KC, and Boys Night Out. Miami Spice is Nice and Better Than Ever 

Organized by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), presented by American Express and sponsored by Stella Artois and BACARDI® Rum, South Florida’s wildly-anticipated summer culinary celebration, Miami Spice Restaurant Program is set to run through September 30, with a record-breaking 166 participating restaurants (to date). New to the program this year is an attractive, second pricing option, allowing many more of Miami and The Beaches’ top dining destinations to participate in Miami Spice.
