While many celebrities who frequent our town have been spotted on and among the runways of New York Fashion Week (check back for our recap next week) and/or the Toronto International Film Festival, we did catch a glimpse of music superstar,

Drake, on September 4 at Soho Beach House sipping on Coconut Cartel all-natural, organic coconut water.  Our favorite beach house is just one of the many hotels and restaurants in the Miami-Dade area who have recently picked up the brand for retail.  In a matter of 6 weeks, Coconut Cartel has become an instant overnight success. Intentional music star and Grammy award winner, Gloria Estefan held a press conference last Tuesday at the Mandarin Oriental to launch her latest album, The Standards.   Estefan shared, “I am so happy to be able to release this…the songs are so important and cathartic and  I wanted  to give this album a  great mood and vibe, especially just before the holidays.” 

Congratulations to Miami’s own, Julio Cabrera (Regent Cocktail Club and Fifty Lounge at Viceroy Hotel), who has just been announced as the 2013 National winner of Bombay Sapphire & USBG’s Most Imaginative Bartender competition.  After earning the regional title in Miami last month, Julio advanced to the national finals this past weekend in Las Vegas – competing against 51 of the nation’s most talented mixologists.

Robin Thicke in town for his gig at  Fontainebleau Miami Beach with Pharell Williams dined at Hakkasan on Friday night – he and his wife shared a dim sum platter,sesame prawns, lobster soup and a bottle of Dewazakura sake.  Artist Romero Britto was spotted entering the Forge just before 10 p.m. with a group of a few friends on Monday (Labor Day). The artist arrived and began his evening with Champagne around the bar prior to being seated at his favorite table within the main dining room. After a great dining experience, the group finished their evening with a Sommelier guided tour of the restaurant’s subterranean wine cellar.  On Saturday, August 24, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County and its Arsht Families committee, a volunteer group of parents committed to supporting children’s access to the performing arts, hosted an exclusive Slava’s Snowshow meet and greet event inside the Ziff Ballet Opera House’s Next Generation Green Room. Guests included Arsht Center members and VIPs, as well as an appearance by Burn Notice star Gabrielle Anwar, her fiancé, Miami-based restaurateur Shareef Malnik, and Anwar’s children: Willow Anwar, Hugo and Paisley Verea. The family enjoyed time with the Slava’s Snowshow clowns, participated in winter-themed arts and crafts, and indulged in sweet treats courtesy of Prelude by Barton G.  

Sofia Vergara was seen dining with friends at the private Club Bar at Soho Beach after midnight on August 10. 

Emmy award-winning actress, Kristin Chenoweth was spotted poolside at W South Beach Hotel & Residences. Chenoweth was in town celebrating her assistant and best friend, Julie Trussell’s, bachelorette party.  She was seen toasting with friends in a private W South Beach cabana. 

On Saturday night, Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake performed at Sun Life Stadium for the Miami edition of their Legends of Summer concert tour.  After the concert, Timberlake held a late-night concert at the Fillmore that went from 2:45- 4:00 a.m. and Jay-Z held court alongside Rhianna and Kevin Hart at Mansion. 

Last week, SNL cast member Kenan Thompson dined at SUGARCANE RAW BAR GRILL with his wife and artist Miguel Paredes and his girlfriend.  They sat at the bar outside, enjoyed tapas and tequila.

Recently at Zuma:  Don Omar was spotted enjoying dinner with a large group of friends, sitting on the riverfront terrace. Also spotted joining the table, race car driver Marco Andretti.

On August 7, the players from AC Milan, Real de Madrid, Chelsea, Juventus and other teams partied it up at Bâoli after their game in Miami.  Andrea Pirlo, Paul Pogba, Arturo Vidal, Claudio Marchisio, Angelo Ogbonna, Alessandro Matteo, Sebastian Giovinco, Giorgio Chillini, Stephan El Shaarawy, Riccardo Montolvio and Cristiano Ronaldo attended  Bâoli’s  famous “My Boyfriend’s Out Of Town” party.  Cristiano Ronaldo ordered two bottles of Perrier-Joüet Belle Epoque champagne. Some models were waiting at his table before he even got there.

Matt Damon returned to his old Miami neighborhood on a recent Friday night to fulfill his craving for authentic Italian food from Café Prima Pasta, a local restaurant he and his wife frequented weekly while living in Miami.  Damon ordered almost one of everything to-go (more than 15 dishes).  He also took home a bottle of Ferllen Malbec from his wife’s native country of Argentina.

Fresh from releasing his new single “Can’t Believe It” featuring Pitbull, rapper Flo Rida was spotted at SLS Hotel South Beach recently with a bevy of pretty ladies. Flo enjoyed several magnum bottles of Laurent-Perrier Brut Rose with friends at Hyde Beach.

This season, supermodel and Beach Bunny 2013 brand ambassador Irena Shayk debuted her collaboration with the Beach Bunny Brand: Irina Shayk for Beach Bunny, while Sports Illustrated cover model, Chrissy Teigen also showcased her line, Chrissy Teigen for Beach Bunny Bride.  Both were front row for the show, which took place Friday, July 19 at the Raleigh.

Jennifer Lopez Celebrated Her Premios Juventud Award and early birthday with Casper Smart, Pitbull, Benny Medina and DJ Irie at Wall Thursday night. JLO and 40 of her closest friends took over half of WALL and Pitbull helped her blow out the candles while enjoying Belvedere and Moët rose! It was quite the kick-off to WALL’s 4 year anniversary weekend.

Actress, Perry Reeves, in town for Miami Swim Week was spotted poolside at the James Royal Palm hotel enjoying and a few minutes of “down time” reading Magnolia before heading out to the shows and designer previews.  Definitely in premiere shape for the rumored “Entourage 2” that is slated to start filming, Reeves seemed excited to hit the town and happy that the sun finally came out in South Beach! 

Last week, singer/songwriter, Jason Derulo was spotted kicking back at Hyde Beach on spending time with friends and mingling with fans. He even posed for a few photos with the now famous silver duck, by the Hyde Beach swimming pool.

Miami’s mixology maven Cricket Nelson, won the USBG and Bombay Sapphire EAST “Most Imaginative Bartender ALL-STAR Competition,” which took place on Friday, July 19 in New Orleans.  Six of the nation’s top bartenders from the, now global, “Most Imaginative Bartender Competition”– presented annually by Bombay Sapphire and GQ magazine — descended the House of Blues to demonstrate their imaginative cocktail skills, each creating an enthralling elixir showcasing the new BOMBAY SAPPHIRE East Gin.  After a challenging head-to-head competition, Miami’s expert mixologist (and the competition’s FIRST EVER female winner) Nelson took home the GOLD MEDAL with her “Sapphire East Love Game” cocktail – a creative concoction including Earl Grey tea, rosebud syrup and fresh Thai basil. 

American supermodel and John Legend’s fiancée, Chrissy Teigen was spotted at SLS Hotel South Beach this past Friday. In town for several appearances during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, Teigen enjoyed some downtime at the hotel with friends. After hanging out for a few hours at the property’s Hyde Beach, Chrissy decided to get in on the fun and jumped behind the bar to create a Watermelon Cucumber Margarita, a signature Hyde Beach cocktail, with one of the bartenders. Chrissy was in good spirits and was spotted later that day attending the Beach Bunny fashion show.

Victoria’s Secret Angel Candice Swanepoel spent the weekend at the Shore Club, indulging in some rest and relaxation poolside. Joined by a group of friends including her boyfriend, Hermann Nicoli and sister, Swanepoel enjoyed breakfast at Terrazza before heading down to the pool where she worked on her tan in a barely there black string bikini.

Shaquille O’Neal hosted the Industry Tuesday party last week at BAMBOO in Miami Beach kicking off the Miami HEAT’s Eastern Conference Finals Kick-Off party alongside Miami HEAT official DJ, DJ IRIE. Shaq gave a warm welcome to club-goers from the stage where he danced, sipped on cocktails and mingled with FIFA all-star Asmir Begovic and former Dallas Maverick, JJ Barea. On Saturday, DIDDY hosted the first ever Day Party at BAMBOO.  The party was sponsored by CIROC.

On Friday, May 17, Levinson Jewelers hosted an exclusive dinner to honor Swiss watchmaker Franck Muller who was in South Florida to unveil his newest collections with a rare in-store appearance at Levinson Jewelers. The VIP guests enjoyed cuisine by Casa D’Angelo in Fort Lauderdale and a special presentation and tasting of Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac and smooth sounds by a live saxophonist. Notables in attendance included Miami Marlin, Cliff Floyd and his wife Mary Ann, Dan Marino and former Miami Dolphin, Sam Madison and wife Saskia.  Dan Marino was on-hand at Levinson Jewelers the next day for Muller’s officialunveiling of his newest 2013 collections.

Actors Will Smith and his son, Jaden Smith attended the After Earth special event at the Miami Science Museum on Thursday.  After Earth opens nationwide May 31.

Wilmer Valderrama joined friend DJ Aliyo at Shore Club on Friday afternoon, jumping on the turntables to spin a few songs for pool guests.
