The Little Lighthouse Foundation’s Hearts & Stars Gala 2016: Venetian Carnival
The Little Lighthouse Foundation’s (LLF) Hearts & Stars Gala 2016: Venetian Carnival charity event will be held on Saturday, March 12th, 2016 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Island Gardens and the deck at Island Gardens, 888 MacArthur Causeway. LLF assists South Florida children and their families who struggle with educational, financial and medical hardships. This support is derived from LLF’s recruiting and educating passionate, caring, socially conscious volunteers, and then utilizing them to support LLF programming and beneficiary charities. New World Symphony Gala 1000
New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy, will hold its premier Gala: 1000 on March 12, an evening that will be emceed by acclaimed actor Malcolm McDowell in honor of reaching 1,000 alumni. The event will be made even more special by the return of five alumni luminaries who have transformed the world of classical music. I wanted to pique your interest in including the black-tie affair.
Ticket holders will be treated to a unique live performance that unites past and current Fellows in celebration of the organization’s milestone achievement. They will be guided through the experience by the Master of Ceremonies, Malcolm McDowell, who was chosen because of the star’s connection to classical music. McDowell currently plays the role of a traditional conductor on Amazon’s hit series Mozart In The Jungle. All proceeds from Gala: 1000 benefit New World Symphony’s mission to provide meaningful cultural programs to the South Florida community, while preparing young musicians for careers in the world of classical music.
Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program
The Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program will host its annual gala taking place on Saturday, March 12, at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami. Founders Jennifer Valoppi and Don Browne, Gala Chair Marisa Toccin Lucas and Co-Vice President, Katherine Fernandez Rundle, celebrate 19 successful years of mentoring at-risk young girls. Gala honorees include Humanitarian Chairs Trish and Dan Bell; Legacy Builder Honorees Laurie and Tom Cunnington; Excellence Honoree, Baptist Health South Florida; and Mentor of the Year, Nancy Frehling. The black-tie event will raise funds to support Women of Tomorrow’s mentoring sessions, career-focused field trips, specialized college campus visits, and scholarships that enable at-risk young women to attend college. The evening will consist of a cocktail reception beginning at 7PM, featuring lavish hors d’oeuvre, silent auction and a seated four-course dinner to begin at 8:30PM.

Third Annual Reception for the PAMM Fund for African American Art
Housing Works’ inaugural Design on a Dime Miami will take place at the Moore Building in Miami from February 5-February 7. The three-day interior design benefit and sale will consist of a Chairman’s Preview Evening, Opening Night Reception and Sale, and Public Designer Sale. The event will feature over 25 notorious interior designers, who will each create unique room vignettes using donated merchandise. The furniture, art pieces, and home décor used in the vignettes will be available for purchase at 80 percent off of retail value. Proceeds will benefit Housing Works and its partners in South Florida.
Slow Food Miami presents its sixth “Snail Social” roaming Happy Hour event on Saturday, February 6, 2016. This time around, it will be a special edition with a farm tour at Teena’s Pride from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM, followed by drinks and appetizers at RedLander Restaurant at Schnebly Redland’s Winery & Brewery from 5 PM – 7 PM.
