The Webster’s soiree for the launch of Page Six editor, Paula Froelich’s new book was a subdued and sophisticated affair. The brilliant, fabulous and all-around-cool-girl, Froelich signed copies of her book, Mercury in Retrogade, and mingled with distinguished guests, including: Suzy Buckley, Yannick and Hadley Henriette, Suzanne Birbragher, Sandee Saunders, Dr. Julio Gallo, Gigi Ganatra, Leslie Wolfson, Ashlee Harrison, Stephanie De La O, Ashlee Harrison, Daniela Swaebe, Jami Mark, Vanessa Menkes, Vanessa Poskanzer, Aaron Glickman, Jilian Sanz, Ellen Marchman and Markus Ketty, to name a few. Froelich praised the efforts of writers and discussed just how difficult it is to succeed in the field. When asked how she felt when she received the first shipment of her published books she laughed and stated, “I crapped my pants!” Inspiring! She even gave some of us a homework assignment when she dedicated our book, “Thank you for coming, now go home and read the book!” We did just that, and it is fantastic! Guests enjoyed treats from Caviar Kaspia, the Webster’s café, located on the ground floor and sipped on Grey Goose Caipiroscas, (which are sort of like Mojitos made with vodka). Froelich and friends later headed to SET for the after party, after a quick dinner at Caviar Kaspia.
A few blocks north, another “girl we’d love to be friends with,” Drew Barrymore, along with boyfriend, Justin Long, A.K.A., the “Mac Guy,” became an impromptu hostess for New Concept Video’s Humane Society fundraiser at NCV owner Dan Sehres’ house. Barrymore and Long were staying at the Delano over the weekend and had attended the Marlins vs. Yankees game prior to the party. To our surprise, Barrymore was rooting for the Marlins, and showed up at the party all decked out in fan-wear, complete with silver face paint and a fin crown, just as cool and quirky as the characters she portrays on the big screen. Barrymore, was barely recognizable, in computer geek chic “smart girl, thick-rimmed glasses,” and even “wo-manned” the door for awhile. The couple stayed for three hours, partying with guests, during which Barrymore performed Cirque du Soleil dance moves on top of Long. We know you’re thinking, “Really???!!!.” Really! Afterwards, they headed to the sand bar at the Delano with man-about-town Nick D’Annunzio, fresh from his Asian Persuasion Tour (we just love to say that).
