Melissa Odabash Brings Capri Glamour to New York Fashion Week

Posted by Maryanne Salvat On September - 25 - 2025

Leave it to Melissa Odabash—London-based designer, former model, and queen of jet set chic—to celebrate 25 fabulous years of her namesake brand with the kind of show that has us already booking flights to Capri.

This past weekend in Manhattan, Odabash was featured in NYFW Shows powered by Miami Swim Week®, where she transported guests to a Mediterranean escape. Picture this: 360° LED projections of the Amalfi Coast wrapping around the venue, a dazzling walk down memory lane with 25 years of glossy magazine covers, and a runway full of bronzed goddesses strutting looks that whispered (okay, shouted): “Take me from the beach to the bar, and don’t forget the rosé!”

Resort Wear That Actually Lives Up to the Hype

The Spring/Summer 2026 Collection was pure practical glamour—that magical sweet spot where your beach cover-up doubles as your dinner outfit, and your swimsuit is just as ready for a dip as it is for a late-night dance on tables in St. Barth. (Yes, we said it. Optional, but encouraged.)

Favorite runway moments:

Tailored linen pant-and-button-down sets, cinched just right at the waist.

Flirty rompers that are as flattering as they are effortless.

Sheer kaftans floating over bikinis like a sea breeze.

One-shoulder jumpsuits and translucent pant sets that scream, “I’m not just on vacation, I am the vacation.”

The color palette includes a chic mix of timeless neutrals (black, white, off-white), a dash of dark denim, and the sweetest blush pinks—basically the kind of palette that works just as well for brunch in the Hamptons as it does for Aperol spritz o’clock on the Amalfi.

Details, Details, Details

Melissa knows it’s all in the craftsmanship:

Crochet, lace, knits, and linens with just the right amount of sparkle.

Signature lacework—think dresses and co-ords styled over swimsuits.

Ethereal touches—cottons dusted with silver shimmer.

Versatile silhouettes—bohemian skirts, après-beach luxe dresses, and coral-inspired prints you’ll want to pack yesterday.

25 Years of Jet Set Dreams

From supermodels to socialites, Odabash has been dressing the world’s most stylish women for decades, and her 25th anniversary show was the perfect reminder why: she makes resort wear you actually want to live in.

With the Spring/Summer 2026 Collection, Melissa Odabash proves once again that glamour doesn’t have to be impractical—it just has to come with a side of wanderlust.

Who says Miami doesn’t get to enjoy fall? Sure, our palm trees don’t shed their leaves and our “sweater weather” involves light linen at best—but thanks to Salt & Straw, we can savor the cozy flavors of the season without ever leaving the tropics.

Starting Friday, August 29th through October 2nd, the beloved, Portland-born ice cream brand is rolling out its latest monthly flavor series: The Apple Series. This hyperseasonal lineup is a love letter to apple season—think apple-picking, autumn harvest parties, and sipping warm cider—reimagined in true Salt & Straw style: playful, decadent, and just a little unexpected.

Here’s what’s on the menu:

Apple Cider Donuts – Royal icing ice cream loaded with chunks of apple cider donuts and drizzled with a cinnamon-vanilla caramel swirl. Yes, it tastes like fall in a scoop.

Apple and Cheddar Cinnamon Rolls – Back by popular demand! Sharp white cheddar ice cream meets apple pie–stuffed cinnamon roll bites and a gooey cinnamon ribbon. Sweet, savory, and absolutely genius.

Vanilla Apple Custard Tart – A silky apple cider–spiked vanilla custard with buttery, housemade vanilla-apple tart bites folded in. A pastry lover’s dream.

Caramel Apple Sherbet – A crisp, refreshing apple sherbet swirled with vanilla-infused caramel. Perfect for Miami’s “endless summer.”

Hoppy Apple Cider Sorbet (v) – A dairy-free sorbet crafted with dry-hopped apple cider, paying homage to the Pacific Northwest’s harvest traditions (and giving us major hard-cider-in-ice-cream vibes).

Co-founder and head ice cream maker Tyler Malek has once again taken nostalgic flavors and given them the Salt & Straw twist we adore. Each scoop is like a trip to an autumn orchard—without the airfare.

Pumpkin Spice, Elevated

As if the Apple Series weren’t tempting enough, Salt & Straw shops nationwide are also unveiling a fall treat that’s destined to be a seasonal obsession: the Pumpkin Spiced Waffle Cone, created in partnership with beloved spice company Diaspora Co..

Infused with an aromatic blend of warming spices, this cone elevates the vanilla-caramel flavors of Salt & Straw’s signature recipe with cozy notes of cinnamon and allspice. Guests can order any scoop on the Pumpkin Spiced Waffle Cone, or go all out with the Pumpkin Spiced Brownie Sundae—a decadent combo of Chocolate Gooey Brownie ice cream, dark chocolate sauce, whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles, and a Pumpkin Spiced Waffle Bowl.

Where to Get It

The Apple Series is available at Salt & Straw scoop shops nationwide, including right here in Miami, and for those who prefer to cozy up at home, nationwide shipping is also an option. You can even order through ShareASale affiliates, making it dangerously easy to stock your freezer.

Indulge in Amazonian Luxury!

Every once in a while, a beauty collection comes along that makes you stop, breathe in, and savor the moment. That’s exactly what happened when I experienced Natura’s new Ekos Cacau Collection—it’s like a little slice of the Amazon, right here in Miami.

Founded in 1969, Natura has always been more than a beauty brand—it’s a mission-driven pioneer. This Brazilian hygiene and cosmetics icon leads the direct selling sector in Latin America, with over two million consultants sharing its gorgeous, good-for-you products. As part of Natura & Co—the family that also includes Avon and The Body Shop—Natura has built its name on ethics, innovation, and care for people and the planet.

In 2014, Natura became the first publicly traded company in the world to earn B Corp certification—proving its dedication to social, environmental, and economic sustainability. In 2018, it became the first Brazilian brand to receive the Leaping Bunny seal from Cruelty Free International, which means no animal testing—ever. Add to that a global presence from Argentina to France to the U.S., and you’ve got a company that’s as far-reaching as it is responsible.

The Ekos Cacau Collection. Imagine rich, pure cacao butter—unrefined and sourced straight from the Amazon—melting into your skin, wrapping you in softness and a fragrance that’s equal parts decadent and refreshing. The 100% natural cacao aromatic extract smells like creamy chocolate with a subtle, uplifting citrus note. It’s indulgence, but without the guilt—because every ingredient has a purpose, and every formula is kind to your skin and the planet.

Here’s what’s making my beauty routine feel like a spa escape:

  • Ekos Cacau Body Lotion ($32) – A silky, rich formula that doubles collagen production and locks in moisture for 72 hours. My skin has never felt this velvety.
  • Ekos Cacau Frescor ($38) – The fragrance I didn’t know I needed: a blend of creamy cacao and a whisper of citrus. Fresh, yet deliciously comforting.
  • Ekos Cacau Soap Set ($25) – Lathers like a dream, cleanses without drying, and leaves behind a soft, chocolatey scent.
  • Ekos Cacau Hand Cream ($20) – Smooth, firm, hydrated hands and stronger nails? Yes, please.
  • Ekos Cacau Moisturizing Lip Balm ($12) – Cushiony, protective, and hydrating for a full two days. My lips are obsessed.

The results? Clinically proven 2X boost in collagen production, stronger elasticity, and hydration that lasts—whether it’s 48 hours for lips or 72 hours for skin. And the scent… well, let’s just say you’ll be stopped and asked what scent you are wearing several times a day.

With Natura, it’s about feeling good and doing good, all at once. The Ekos Cacau Collection delivers Amazonian luxury you can feel proud to indulge in.

Tap Brings a Taste of Brazil to Brickell

Posted by Maryanne Salvat On July - 29 - 2025

There’s a new must-visit spot in Brickell—and it’s bringing serious flavor with a side of soul. Welcome to TAP Brickell, the vibrant new café that stands for Tapioca Sandwiches, Açaí Bowls, and Pão de Queijo—and serves up a fresh take on Brazilian comfort food with a wellness-forward twist.

Founded on a deep love for Brazil’s culinary roots, TAP is all about real ingredients, bold flavors, and feel-good vibes. The menu is stacked with tasty choices: egg wraps, paninis, smoothies, fresh juices, and rich Brazilian coffee—all made with care and crafted to energize.

But let’s talk signatures. TAP’s Tapioca Sandwiches—made with cassava flour imported straight from Brazil—are naturally gluten-free and totally crave-worthy. They put a Brazilian spin on American favorites, like the BaconEggNCheese or Chicken Club, with a texture that’s both crisp and chewy.

Then there’s the Pão de Queijo, Brazil’s beloved cheese bread, baked in-house with a special blend of mozzarella, Swiss, and parmesan. Available in three flavors—traditional, spicy, and pesto—these warm, cheesy bites are basically irresistible.

The Açaí Bowls are another star. Sourced sustainably from the Amazon rainforest (yes, really), the açaí is rich, smooth, and loaded with antioxidants. Toppings include homemade vegan granola, coconut flakes, cocoa nibs, chia seeds, passion fruit, mango, strawberries, bananas, and blueberries. It’s the kind of bowl you eat with your camera first.

TAP is led by brothers Pedro and Cleo Uchôa, who bring their Rio de Janeiro roots—and a shared passion for Brazilian food—to every detail.

Their commitment to quality goes beyond food. TAP’s motto, “Eat Well, Do Good, Live Better,” is reflected in its eco-conscious mission. The restaurant uses biodegradable PLA cups, prioritizes sustainable sourcing, and collaborates with local partners to give back to both the Miami and Brazilian communities.

The space is as much a cultural experience as it is a café. From hand-painted palm fronds and oversized umbrellas outside, to vibrant murals inside by Brazilian graffiti artist Acme (@universoacme), every detail invites guests into Brazil’s colorful world. The walls are also adorned with stunning photographs by visual artist Nino Franco (@ninofrancoo), showcasing everything from sun-drenched beaches to lush jungles. A striking green wall over rustic brick, Brazilian music, and complimentary Wi-Fi complete the atmosphere.

Whether you’re looking for a power breakfast, post-workout fuel, or your new favorite neighborhood spot, TAP delivers with warmth, flavor, and flair.

TAP Brickell is located at 1250 S Miami Avenue, #105, open daily from 8am to 8pm.
